Lutherans Building for Christ and Habitat for Humanity
Begin House #12!

Christ Church-Lutheran, and Habitat for Humanity invite you to join the ministry of providing affordable housing for the working poor of our community

Working with Habitat for Humanity here at Christ Church has been a vital ministry for eleven years. Since 2000 we in cooperation with seven other Lutheran churches and sponsors have built eleven houses for, and with, low income families to ultimately purchase.

We are building with seven other Lutheran congregations and Concord Construction, the company that completed our new school building. Each church and sponsor will supply four to five construction volunteers every build Saturday.

People of All Skill Levels are Welcome: Every man, woman, and youth over the age of 16 is encouraged to come and help regardless of skill level. A completed Waiver Form is required before you work. Type of Construction Work: No experience is necessary. Volunteers learn from house leaders and team leaders as to what tasks need to be done.

Rain Policy: If it is raining, please call our Rain Hotline to see if the sites are open: 602.262.8679

Provide Lunch to the Volunteers: If you are unable to build, but would still like to participate, consider providing lunch on a Saturday for the construction team of about 30 workers. You need not provide anything fancy, just something to keep those who have worked four hours going for another two. Here is where volunteers that do not meet the minimum age requirement of 16 for construction duty can help out. Click here to read all about and volunteer to provide lunch.

Paying for a Habitat Home: Our coalition collects the $85,000 sponsorship donation required for the material cost of the house from all of the member sponsors. Most contributions received are cash with many donors taking advantage of the State of Arizona Tax Credit program whereby a family can contribute up to $400 dollars per year and receive a reduction of their tax liability by the same amount in addition to taking a Federal Tax charitable deduction. In-kind contributions are also made by several members who are contractors who donate material and labor to accomplish the chores that the volunteers do not accomplish like, plumbing, air conditioning, cabinetry and the drywall tape and texture. Please designate your donation to Lutherans Building for Christ and to read a more informative Brochure, click here.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Another way to support the Habitat ministry is to use one of their three ReStores. These places provide a donor with the opportunity to donate new or gently used building materials and also to purchase the same at a much reduced price.

Answered Questions: If you would like to know more, or sign-up for a particular day to volunteer, or to provide a lunch then please visit us on the patio between church services any Sunday during the season when we're building, or by using this webpage. On the Christ Church patio a representative will be there to answer your questions, receive a donation, or sign you up for a Saturday of working with the finest people you have ever met accomplishing a ministry that will leave you sore, but feeling good to see what you have accomplished, showing the face of Jesus to those in our community providing and needing descent affordable housing.
