2019-2020 Calendar

January 8 The Science of Music, the Music of Science

Learn from singer, band leader and journalist, Dr. Janice Jarrett, about the correlations between science and music and why so many high level professionals are musicians and musicians are scientists. Join Active Adult Ministry at 9:30am on Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the Canyon Room in the Christian Life Center for a great time mingling with our 5th Graders, listening to a great guest speaker from AZ Humanities, and enjoying a wonderful luncheon afterward.

February 5 – An Illustrated History

Lois and Ed James, snowbirds from Janesville, Wisconsin, will give an illustrated presentation telling the life of Ed's Great Grandmother. She was not an ordinary person, if there is such a thing. It was a life of triumph and tragedy. Her story spans life as a sideshow curiosity during Civil War times to helping with the suffragette movement.

March 4 – On the Mission Field in Africa

Listen to our own Ed and Wilma Rupprecht and their adventures in wild Africa and their work with Lutheran Bible Translators.

April 1 – Coded Messages and Songs of the Underground Railroad

Communication and secrecy were key to the successful operation of the Underground Railroad. Come hear Dr. Tamika Sanders present the ingenuity and resiliency used by the Railroad to help over 100,000 slaves get to freedom in the pre-20th century.

May 6 – The Shadow Catchers: 150 Years of Arizona Photography

Join author/editor, Jim Turner, as he presents powerful images from the past 150 years that made our great state and its people come alive.
